Have you read the blog Green Kitchen Stories? It’s incredibly inspiring, full of delectable food photography and healthy, vegetarian recipes. It makes me want to be virtuous, aspiring to the easy-going, colourful, healthy lifestyle of the authors David Frenkiel and Luisa Vindahl.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made their (it’s a lot) and their warded off several lurgies that threatened to invade my body this winter.
I’ve been a fan for awhile, and I was delighted to see that they’ve just released their second cookbook, this time taking their approach to food on the road and collecting beautiful vegetarian recipes from all over the world.
Would you like to win one of three copies of Green Kitchen Travels by David Frenkiel and Luise Vindahl? Then read on! Competition now closed.
The first thing that struck me about the book was the visual beauty of it. It’s full of the same bright and beautiful photography that you find on the blog, but features exotic location-specific styling that gets ones feet rather itchy for global wanderings. David and Luisa not only took their vegetarian lifestyle on the road, they took their baby! They provide a great chapter full of tips on how to travel with a baby, which I found useful (though most days I struggle to get out of Kyneton, let alone Australia).
The recipes are inspired by their travels, taking in America, Morocco, Mexico, Italy, Vietnam, England and others. There’s Chilled Avocado Soup from California where they picked avocados straight from the tree, a healthier version of Vietnamese coffee with almond milk and dates replacing condensed milk, a mixture of Mexican paletas (icy poles) that will definitely feature in my freezer this summer and a Moroccan Quinoa, Almond and Mint salad that I’ve already made a few times. Like the blog, the recipes are healthy but full of flavour and colour.
